Around America to Win the Vote takes students on an adventure with Nell Richardson and Alice Burke, two women who drove across America advocating for women's right to vote. Students will learn about the powerful word 'democracy' and explore how the color yellow has power in nature, society, and art.
Before you begin...
Each Artful Reading Module is flexibly designed for a 2-3 week duration. Lessons are marked for Before-, During-, or After-Reading to guide your planning. We have added a sample of a During and After Reading lesson entitled The Yellow Wunderkammer for you to preview. Each lesson is designed in an easy to read format, with standards, materials needed, and step-by-step directions to ensure you are fully prepared when it’s time to deliver.

By the end of the module, students will be able to:

Summative Writing tasks serve as an end-of-unit assessment, and include options for narrative, informational and opinion/persuasive writing. Students are able to reflect on and pull from their learning experiences throughout the module to complete the writing task. Optional Extension Tasks are also available to stretch the module further.
