Blueberries for Sal takes readers on a blueberry picking adventure alongside two mothers and their offspring. This module uses texts to illustrate how humans and bears prepare for winter. Students will make meaning of vocabulary through dramatic play, including pretending to can their own jars of blueberry jam. After studying the illustrator’s use of the color blue, and works from Picasso’s Blue Period, students will use different mediums to create original blue art.
