Owen & Mzee: The True Story of a Remarkable Friendship takes us on a journey back to December 2004. The chaos and sadness that followed the devastating tsunami in the Indian Ocean was dotted with heart-warming stories of selflessness, bravery, and compassion. The story of Owen, an orphaned baby hippopotamus, and Mzee, a 130-year-old Aldabra tortoise, is one such story. Their unexpected friendship, in the aftermath of the tsunami, captured the heart of East Africa and the world, including the father and daughter duo who authored this text. This module will capture the hearts (and the arts) of your students.
